A First Look


We loved working with Kat and Graham for their wedding last September. Designing their event was fun, their guests were fun, and they had the best First Look that we have probably ever seen!! A first look is something that is becoming more and more popular. There are many reasons why a first look is truly ideal on such a big and stressful day:


1) It gets the jitters of seeing each other out of the way.
2) You have a private moment to cry, hug, kiss and just have that moment between the two of you.
3) You will spend less time on the post ceremony photos so you can get to seeing your family and friends!
4) You get to share a private conversation with your soon to be partner with no one else around.

All these moments were easily captured when the lighting was perfect, the energy between them was calm and there wasn't the pressure to rush to get these while also trying to get all the shots with the family.

Tents and Outdoor Events

I LOVE planning outdoor events and over the years have seen many changes and improvements on ways to design them in style.

Here, a clear-top tent brings the outdoors in; we recommend this for early spring and fall weddings; it is proven to be a bit warm during the months of May thru August. The white lanterns contribute to the clean aesthetic of this wedding. Different lantern shapes (oblong and round) keeps things interesting.  

Party Lanterns have been around for quite a while, they add a refreshing charming look to your outdoor event whether it is under a tent or under the stars!  I have requests for them quite often; we have done a number of events with them in all white or multi colors.  I find the white paper lantern adds a clean, modern and fun romantic feel all in one!

In many cases during the summer months; you have to consider the elements of the outdoors and perhaps you have considered using a tent.  If you are considering using a tent for your outdoor event; here are some helpful tips and a checklist:

    • Does it allow for tent space?
    • Does it interfere with parking?
  • Rentals
    • Chairs
    • Tables
    • Lounge furniture
  • Lighting
    • String lighting
    • Chandeliers
    • Lanterns
  • Rental Company 
    • Do they have insurance?
    • Will they obtain the proper permits if they are needed?
    • How many days will tent be up for the price?
    • What are the terms of use during specific weather situations?
  • Electrical needs
    • Is a generator needed?
